I doubt he ends up being anything more than a camp body but would rather they give someone like him a chance than a washed up veteran.  Every blue moon you can find a player that is NFL worthy by doing that.  He did spend sometime on the Cardinals roster in 2018 and played two games appearing on special teams only and spent the rest of the time on their practice squad.  Maybe he is a late bloomer but I won't increase my hope for him because of his XFL success.

This is typical Saints move.  They always try to fill their needs in FA, so that they are free to draft best available player.  I think it's a good move.  I wouldn't mind the Saints trading back to the 2nd round this year if they can get an additional 1st rounder next year.  (maybe a QB, that the Saints don't like will slide)
Saints have 1 or 2 years with Brees and then it's time to pay the piper.  They will either have to have a fire sale and rebuild or be able to put a lot of 'cheaper' draft talent on the field.  Saints have proven they can draft now, so I would not be upset with the "build up draft capital for 2021/2022 so it's not a rebuild, but just a reload" strategy.

I have to agree with you.  I still don't see that player he was pre-injury.  However, if he is just taking that long to get back to 100% and he turns into that player, it will be a great signing for the Panthers.  That being said, I'm very doubtful he ever gets back to that point.  Regardless he certainly improves the Panthers and you know he will at least try to dive for a fumble.  It is possible Matt Ryan just turned into the worse starting QB in the NFC South though.  lol

Love this signing but wish they traded for him last season.  I honestly believe that had they, they would have at least been in the Super Bowl and maybe won it.  He had a monster game against us and no way San Fran wins that game without him.  That game gives us the number one seed, but more importantly, he is a legit weapon opposite MT and we would have rolled through the playoffs and would have given KC a damn good fight that could have gone either way.

Yikes, please don't compare Malcolm Jenkins to Byrd.  Byrd was one of the worst signings ever by the Saints.  After Byrd signed his contract, he basically checked out.
Everything I have seen about Jenkins over the years, that is not going to happen.   There have been plenty of Safeties that have played well into their mid-30s.
I doubt Jenkins contract has a lot of dead money after two years, which is probably the amount guaranteed.  And Jenkins has been extremely durable over the years, which probably means he takes care of his body.  He is a smart dependable player, and a leader on and off the field.
I doubt Bell is worth the money he is probably looking for, or what someone has already agreed to give him.

I liked Teddy, but was never sold on him as our long term QB.   The team really rallied around him, we our defense and running game stepped up. I loved him as a backup, but not as our solution at QB.
I wish him luck, except against the Saints..... or in competing with the Saints.............., who thought a few years ago he would get a $63 million contract?    He is already a winner.

I will say the Champions League went out epically the way it did. That Atletico/Liverpool game was off the charts back and forth and vicious all game that went into extra minutes and the reigning Champions League champs went down and tossed Liverpool's epic home record to the dustbin of history.
...but ya, strange days indeed. Flatten this upward curve and we're good, stay safe out there peoples!
  11. Slidell Saint liked a post in a topic by The X-Man in Taysom getting too big for his britches?
Taysom Hill's lack of snaps as a QB doesn't scare me at all. I've seen enough to believe he can be a force to be reckoned with as a starting QB, especially in today's NFL. I saw less of Tom Brady when he was sitting behind Drew Bledsoe than I've seen of T. Hill. Count me in as a guy who wouldn't bat an eye if T. Hill had to start the entire season.

Saints will find a way to push money forward and take a hit when Brees does retire.  Having Brees return is the Saints best chance of reaching the Super Bowl.  A big factor for the Saints going forward will be keeping their core players together that are reaching an end to their rookie contracts; that will be the big cap issue.
Looking forward to one last year with Drew. The Saints need to find a way to play their best football at playoff time.

Like y’all I don’t have a dog in the hunt. I’m watching out of curiosity mostly and frankly because there’s not much else on TV on these Feb/March Sunday afternoons.  If a game is good and entertaining I can watch even without a rooting interest.
Some of the games have been good so far, but I’ve switched off others.
    I hope it lasts.

Big win for the Pelicans as they try to climb into the playoff chase.  Looked dominant, even without Brandon Ingram.

I watched it out of the periphery as my Barça game was on. The product wasn't bad but wasn't great either. It was entertaining tho but I'll focus more on it next week. It's an early game for my soccer team on Saturday so I'll have the afternoon to peep this more. What I did notice is that I don't miss football anymore. That kinda saddens me as I used to get really down right after the season ended but apparently I'm moving on more than I realized. Nothing, nada, not a pang or thought until I'm sitting here now and kinda going, huh, I'm more excited for the Getafe game than I am for the Saints or football for that matter. My excitement and passion are over there and we're decent this year, not as good as in years past and I'm more knowledgable on the international scene after years of following the game now. Injuries have taken their toll and this is the thinnest Barça bench in years due to it, making for an exciting season as the prior coach was fired last month midseason and replaced with a tactician the player's respect. It's taking some time but it's getting results and ya, you could care less at this point so I'll just walk away.

The XFL TV deal is way better.
It's being shown on major channels worldwide similar to what we watch the NFL on, so I'm watching it on Swedish TV - I just checked online and it's being shown in the UK and other countries in Europe too.  Canada has it, Australia has it.
The AAF was pretty much North America only which meant if you weren't in that territory you had to find a dodgy stream - then they had that app which was about 2 minutes behind the dodgy stream and over heated my phone!  A really bad experience which was easy to give up on.
Then the start times make a huge difference.  XFL 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Swedish time, AAF 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Swedish time.  I go to bed at 2 a.m. so I never watched the second game - and because it was on a dodgy stream, I could never record it either.
You make a great point about stadium size.  The spectator numbers are probably pretty similar, but the impression is given that there's more people there.  And there's actually an atmosphere because of that.
The standard of football is way better too so those spectators will be coming back and probably increasing.  First game was great fun, this game on now has also been great.  I'll definitely be watching again tomorrow for the simple reason there's not the hoops the AAF made me jump through, so all I have to do is switch on my TV.
It's easy for me to see why the AAF went bust and the XFL looks to be on a winner just for the above reasons.

This team shows a lot of potential, but damn those turnovers.  Losing by 8 despite that many turnovers and missed free throws makes that obvious.  Very frustrating.  Hopefully this team can pull their collective heads out of their asses soon.
