Realism is beginning to sink in. And I'm not even the pessimistic type.

If we want any realistic shot at the playoffs, we have to finish 10-6... (11-5 would guarantee playoffs) and thus far, I see no indication of going 7-1 or 6-2 in the 2nd half of the season. We simply have too many shortcomings on defense and special teams...

And the crappy schedule. The fact that we have just 3 home games in our last 8 games is rediculous. Plus, again, having to go to Chicago late in the season. If we get to double-digit wins, Brees should be the undisputed MVP...and I'll get his name tatooed to my ass.

at a glance...
Philly must play- NYG, BAL, ARZ, NYG, WAS, DAL
Tampa must play-NO, CAR, ATL, SD, MIN
Atlanta must play - NO, CAR, SD, NO, TB, MIN
Carolina must play - ATL, GB, TB, NYG, NO
Green Bay must play - TEN, MIN, CHI, NO, CAR, JAX, CHI (Wow)
Minnesota must play - TB, JAX, CHI, ARZ, ATL, NYG
If we just start winning, we should creep up in the standings very quickly.

They will dominate in the playoffs.
They will win the Superbowl!
What
Do you really, seriously think the Saints are going to run the table?? If they do that, I may not live to see the Super Bowl because I would have died somewhere around week 15.

Truth is, we're just not in the class of the Giants and Carolina. Add in Philly and maybe even Washington. Without the injuries, suspensions, kickers, and dumb luck we are maybe in that second class/wild card teams. We're too soft.
We could have used a an upgrade at LB (Shanle) and S (Keasviharn) and K (Gazoo/Melhaff) this offseason. I think if we were better in those two spots we would be 5-3 or maybe even 6-2. But we're not.
Either way, it will be interesting to see if Payton does a good job using these two weeks getting this team ready for ATL and KC. The defense needs fixing and if they come out Sunday and let Matt Ryan light them up you can write the year off.

Why else would I watch and cheer? If I thought they would lose all their games there really would be no point in me watching.
Why would I say....Oh the Saints suck and are gonna lose today......
If I thought like that, there would be no hope....no point.
But that's just me.
