The Saints/Falcons rivallry is going on 40 years with another game yet to be played this weekend . so, on the eve of renewing a Deep Southern feud. I will now go over some classic games in our history.
Saints/ Falcons 1967 Trailing by a Td with less then 1 minute left, thne Saints drive 97 yards with 2 1-handed catches kurt Kramer, the Saints drive home the win onthe last play of the game.
Saints/Falconsa 1973 "Black Sunday" The Falcons set an NFL record by scoring 62 points to the Saints 7 as many Saints fans went on to later call this game " Black sunday
Saints/Falcons 1978 Big Ben was born. Trailing 17-13 the Falcons Steve Bartkowski threw a 57 yard depspeartion pass to Wallace Francis at what immediatley deemed Big Ben.. A nightmarish de javu incidnet happened 2 weeks later in Atlanta with the exact same results with the score again 20-17
Saints /Falcons 1986 it what many feel was the borth of the Dome Patrol, the Saints Rickey Jackson had 3 sacks, one on the final play of the game to ensure a 14-9 Saints victory in Hotlanta.
Saints/ Falcons 1991 The playoff game.In a close, voilent game between thse two teams, the Falcons Tim Mcgvver intercpeted a Bobby Hebert pass with less then 2 minutes left at the Falcons 35. Little side not e. Many years later, Jessie Tuggle of the Falcons remarked it was so loud, he could nt hear himself think.,It was alos the gmae I remember hearing that the Falcons players had to run off the feild imeediatley aftert he game's conclsuion, some fearing a riot might happen if they stayed around much longer
Saints Falcons 2000 in a Game the Saints totally dominated from beginning to end, we swept the Falcons for the first time in 6 years, winning 23-. Winning the NFC West .
Saints/Falcons 2002 Good cosuins, better enemies In the games that helped define Micheal Vick and possibly the 2002 Falcons, the Saints and the Falcons played 2 greta games in the span of 2 weeks, including a 37-35 thriller in NEw Orleans.
Saints/Falcons 2003 Revenge of the Saints
In a game earilt simialr to the 1973 game, the Saints this time were the blowout agrresors. wiinning 42-14. I feel the Falcons gave up after the 1st quarter and laid down like dogs. We would end Dan Reeves stay in atlanta later in the year in a muh closer Saints win 23-20

There seems to be a movement by the implant members of the media in Atlanta to dismiss the Saints as the Falcons #1 Rival. They look at Carolina and Tampa as bigger rivals. I learned of this while listening to a local Sports Talk Station here in Atlanta.
I called the host and explained to him that he is originally from New Jersey and he has no idea of the fierce rivalry between the Saints and the Falcons. In his opinion, he believes the Panthers and the Bucs are better rivals basically because he feels the Saints suck. I had to explain to him that although the Falcons are having one of their best years in franchise history, the Falcons have NEVER had BACK TO BACK WINNING SEASONS. Throughout history, they sucked as much as the Saints have. That is another reason this rivalry is so competitive. The only way I could get this dope to understand is to compare the Falcons to the Michigan Wolverines.
Michigan's #1 Rival is Ohio State. Michigan also has a rivalry with Notre Dame and Michigan State. A team can have more than one rival game a year.
I look forward to the Falcons -vs- Saints game here in Atlanta and I have been going for 7 years strong. I love driving around Atlanta with a Gold Saints plate on the front and a personalized Georgia plate that reads GEAUX 2 on the back of my Mustang.

You left out the 1979 OT 40-34, Russell Erxleben interception game! The Saints jumped out to an early lead. Chuck Muncie scored on a 69 yard run but the Falcons caught up in the second half to send the game into OT. In the extra period both teams got cautious and played a field position game. The Falcons got the Saints backed up near their goal when disaster struck and the snap sailed over Erxleben's head. He then pulled a Garo Yepremian and threw the ball right into the arms of a Falcon for a TD. Ironically, Erxleben continued to be the Saints' punter but was replaced as the field goal kicker by......Garo Yepremian!
